When Jaguar Landrover installed a new robot line using special purpose machine supplier Simms Engineering, Monk Conveyors was asked to supply the powered roller conveyor system. The system used power roller conveyors to feed car bumper fixtures within a robot cell. The layout was a closed loop, so robots could pick the bumper from the fixtures and they would be returned to the start of the process. The fixtures were 1950mm x 880mm weighed 160kg.
Sixteen individual 24vdc drive motors created sixteen powered roller zones. This allowed a continual flow of fixtures without allowing them to touch each other.
Line speed was 15m/min and 30m/min.
Monk Conveyors worked with Simms Engineering to provide detailed approval drawings before manufacture.
